Default '05 XC90 leather seats

The leather seats on my '05 XC90 has two types of leather. Middle part is a thicker leather while sides are made of thinner leather. My SUV is garaged and I work the night shift so very little exposure to sun. Also, I use Armour leather conditioner once a month. Mileage on it is less than 20k. The driver seat SIDE leather is cracking while other seats are ok (rarely have passengers). It's too soon to crack so believe it is defective. Dealership says they can't do antyhing as leather warranty is only 1 year. They recommend to coat it with mink oil. Does anyone out there have similar issues with '05 XC90 leather seats?

Are you sure that the warranty does not cover this? They might be trying to blow you off. I can check into what the warranty exactly is on the seat covers on monday.

Default '12 XC90 Defective Leather

I recently bought a used 2012 XC90 with tan leather interior. I have about 2,000 miles remaining on the original factory warranty. The leather is showing wear on the driver side part of the seat under where one's thighs rest. The color is wearing off in patches, but the leather is not torn or ripped. I think I have a good case for claiming a factory defect and not wear and tear. Does anyone have any advice for a strategy when the dealer tells me it's wear and tear, therefore not their problem? I don't see how a car that is less than a year old has leather issue like this unless the previous owner wore sandpaper trousers

Follow-up 12 June 13...Hendrick Volvo Kansas City offered to dye the leather. They noticed it had been dyed once before. I refused since that course of action did not work. I asked to speak with the Zone Manager and was told to call Volvo Customer Service. I called and entered a complaint and will wait to see their reply. I expected the dealer to take the path of least resistance, but I resented the comment "you bought it used" and "you should have bought the interior protection warranty" made to my wife. It's irrelevant if the car is used...it's defective under warranty. It was implied that because the car was bought elsewhere...it's your tough luck. Don't insult me with those phony dealer protection plans. No wonder Volvo is having a hard time selling cars with comments like this. More to follow...I'm like a dog after the mailman when it comes to issues like this.

I heard Armour is pretty bad for leather as it seems to dry out leather over time. My XC90 is an 06 with 105k and the leather looks really good. I use Lexol conditioner, the one the comes in a bottle, not he spray. Put this on and let it sit and soak, I sometimes do this over night before wiping it or buffing with a slightly wet rag. Might try but it may be too late. Good luck

I used Leatherique Home Page | Leatherique Restoration Products on my '04 C70 and '01 V70 with very good results. It's expensive but less costly than repairing or replacing Volvo leather. Lexol and any Meguairs products are good, too.

Default Mequires

I'm a Meguire's leather cream fan. Used it for years and always get compliments on our auto and home leather.

don't use armor. they tend to make things shiny but not not much else IMHO. grilot's garage products (sold at advance auto and grilot's website) or lexol (sold at pep boys and other places) products are much better.
