Default 2004 XC90 2.5T Reduced Performance (limp) Mode while using cruise control

On our 2004 XC90 2.5T with cruise set to ~70mph, hit bump on highway and engine reverted to Reduced Performance (limp) Mode with flashing light. Pull off to side of highway and shut down the motor. Problem is gone upon restart. This has happened 3x over past 3 or 4 years. Only occurs with cruise control on. Seems like hitting bump at highway speed is affecting a connection (electronic, intake or other) but during call to dealer service, seemed like they had never dealt with it. Have not taken in for service, as I've been waiting for more of a 'hard fail' to troubleshoot. By my visual inspection, nothing appears to be loose or out of place. Does anyone have any ideas on how to correct? Thanks in advance.
