Hello to all the fellow XC90 er's. I have been lurking in the forum for some time now gathering up bits and pieces of info for my wifes 04's XC90. Yesterday as we were driving home she noticed the check engine light came on and right after that I noticed the car started running rough and idle got noticeably bad. I immediately checked the hoses (that I could see) for leaks..nothing. Checked the oil and a faint smell of gas was there. . Last week we noticed a surge in the rpms while the car was in park and I thought to myself I got to get the car to a mechanic and now this. Ive heard of the turbo leaks on these but could this be related?? Its a 04' and the odo just struck 110,000. Any help would be appreciated. The gas smell in the oil cap is really bugging me. Thanks in advance.

 

step one is the read the codes (why the check engine light is on). autozone does it for free or you can buy an obd 2 scanner for $50.
