I have reviewed the manual as how to replace a low beam lamp in my 2004 XC90. When I removed the lighting assembly and the dust cover (large one as show in manual) I did not see the light bulb and connector that I would twist to remove. Mine has a aluminum cover with a clip mechanism. This is not show in the manual, does this mean that I have Xenon bulbs? I don't want to fool with this clip and cover if it means that I have Xenon lights, I will take it to the dealer. Car has 141K miles and has been great!

 

Not sure why no one has responded to your query before now, but yes, based upon your description you have Xenon lamps.
