I would like to upgrade the stereo, one with an aux input to use an Ipod. A stereo shop told me there is no way to put an aftermarket stereo in it. A dash kit exists, but no wiring harness kit. Would a factory stereo out of a later model XC90 plug in? It has just the stereo, not The nav system

 

Newer stereos won't work due to the fact that they have unique separate amps and lower ohm speakers. However, the Denison Gateway 500 unit ($500) will seamlessly integrate your ipod or mp3 player to the fiber optic system up to 2006 models. You need to have an in dash disc changer though. It's basically a god send.
