Our 2005 XC90 has 56000 miles and the check engine light just came on. Took it to the dealer and they said it is a $1600.00 computerfor ABS/stability control. I thought the check engine light was basically emisions and that the ABS light would have come on for ABS problems. Has any one else needed this type of repair ? This just after replacing rear wheel bearing at 53000 miles so nice to wait till warranty is over. Service personnel recommended a extented warranty "would have paid for itself" Thanks

 

It is very possible the ABS module might be bad and triggers the Check Engine light.

I would check with some of the companys that rebuild the ABS modules and see if they will/can rebuild yours. Most of the rebuilds cost about $100.00. That is with you removing it and sending it to them.
