2005 xc90 computer trouble
Hi there. If my last thread is attached please note that at present all has changed.
Now for some reason my dash states brake failure and the abs light is on. this looks like it has locked in place. No codes showing when checking with my basic code reader. It never changes which is completely different from the former problems.
I am have a starting problem which sorts itself out if I just keep trying to spin it over. Yesterday I got brave and decided to launch my new ( to me ) boat. all good until I tried pulling the boat up the ramp. Lucky to get it out as no rear wheel drive.
On reading up on the system, found it is computer controlled so I'm thinking that I need to get the computer in order prior to looking at the 4x4 system itself.
Yesterday I tried draining down the computer by shorting the battery leads together overnight, no difference.
Any clues. Thanks Richard

I have a feeling that your "basic code reader" will only read OBD emission related codes in the Engine and transmission control units.
You need a compatible scanner that can talk to ALL of the control units in your car. Specifically if an ABS light is on - the ABS control unit.
If the ABS light is on - there are codes stored somewhere -
