2005 XC90 Ignition Cylinder

The ignition cylinder in our ‘05 XC90 has started getting stuck at 0. Sometimes jiggling works, or playing with the wheel, but it isn’t being caused by the steering lock and usually requires lubrication. It happened once or twice over the period of a couple of years, but now it’s doing it regularly. So two questions:
1) Anyone here ever solved this issue without the need to order a new cylinder keyed to your vehicle’s VIN#?
2) If it is possible and potentially cheap enough, are there any reasons not to look into a quality push-start system instead?

2. Push start such as the 1st picture for $4 screwed into the dash or the 2nd picture for $125, a bunch of rigging, an extra remote in your pocket? - And you would still need a chip key very near the antenna ring to unlock the immobilizer.
