New to the forum and Volvo car so bear with me....

I just got a used Volvo CX90 and the navigation system is from 2010/2011.
I ordered a DVD online however I have no clue how to use it to update the system.
I tried to insert the DVD however it seems like I only have a CD player, not a DVD player, hence the system cannot read it.

Not sure what to do from here as the car doesn't have a USB port in the center console and I haven't seen any option on the GPS menu to do any type of upgrade.

Any advice on how to do it?

 

The player will read the update DVDs. You need to start the engine, and then the insert the DVD. You'll need a license code in order to complete the update. You can get the license code from the website listed in the information included with the update DVDs.

It takes a few hours to complete the update WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING. You can stop the engine, and the update will resume the next time you start the engine.

I tried to turn on the engine then put the DVD in the CD player however I get "Disk unreadable". and such, it doesn't do any upgrade. Is there another DVD player hidden in the car in order to run the upgrade for the GPS? I'm using the central console for that.
I understand that the CD player is not meant to read DVDs and that's probably why it doesn't work.
I just can't figure out on that car where to put the disk.

Any thoughts?

 

Like I said I'm a noob... there is a DVD player under the driver seat which allows you to update the map. So weird....
All is good.
