Im looking at a 30' travel trailer that is 5100 lbs with a 400 lb hitch. I will be towing it 40 miles on the thruway (55 mph) all flat land 4 or so times a year to a campground near me. I dont plan on taking it anywere else. I understnd if I tried to take someting that heavy on hills or a long trip is completely out of the question, but short distance and flat land?
The towing capacity is 5,000 pounds but for the euro version fo the vehicle its supposedly 6,000lbs? Im not sure why the euro version can tow more, maybe something to do with the hitch? But ive been told by my mechanic that he can install an aftermarket hitch that is rated at 6,000 lbs. And yes I understand even if the towing capcaity is technically 6,000 lbs that trailer is still too large to be towing but the extra 1,000 lbs would be helpful. Thoughts anyone? Thanks in advance.

No warranties on anything. Although ironically i did purchase the vehicle 2 months ago from the volvo dealership and within weeks of driving the car it started burning huge amounts of oil. Over a liter burned every 1,000 miles. Volvo made me go through multiple tests and eventually agreed to replace the entire engine at their cost. Apparently the oil burning is a known issue with 2016s? Anyways I digress... i'm still waiting for the parts to come in. But I should have a new engine any day now if that matters.
