Exclamation 2016+ XC90 Drivetrain Slipping

2016 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum+
Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue. I am experiencing a slip somewhere in the drivetrain when I accelerate past 15%. When pressing the pedal less than 15%, it shifts perfectly up through 80mph with no slipping. However, whenever you press the pedal past ~15%, the vehicle slips or clunks. Started with the transmission and did the recommended multi drain and fill sequence and reset the adaptation. Transmission is working/shifting as expected.

Has anyone experienced this issue?
Based on these symptoms, can anyone provide clarity on the issue?
Thanks!

The only place that can "slip" is the transmission. Axles are splined into the differential and the hubs so no possibility of "slippage". If AWD the rear stuff does not matter, it's primarily a FWD car and the front wheels are directly connected to the transmission. Rears wheels have the haldex clutch in between the transmission and the rear diff. I have seen a couple of times an aftermarket right axle center bearing walk down the shaft and pull the splines out of the transmission - then the AWD thinks there's no traction in the front and the haldex engages powering the rear wheels - in that case the haldex can slip, for it is not designed to deliver all of the power. I trust you are diagnosing "slip" by the engine rpms rising faster than the MPH does? Like what happens when a clutch slips?

hoonk... Thanks for the reply. The engine rpms do not rise so maybe I am mistaken in calling it a "slip". Maybe a clunk clunk would be a better way to describe it. It has the feel of a clutch only partially grabbing is the way I perceive it. It does not happen when accelerating slowly... just when accelerating more aggressively (greater than 15% press of the pedal)

OP: Did you ever identify the problem? My '16 XC90 just started displaying the exact same problem.
