Default 2021 T6 XC90 vs my old 2019 T5

Just turned in my 2019 T5 for a 2021 T6.

Few things I am noticing that I don't love about the upgrade:
- The new T6 does not have the grocery bag holder in the trunk, and more importantly, the nice compartment underneath surrounding the spare tire. It is now all filled with foam inserts - no storage. This sucks! I kept my first-aid kit, roof straps, shock cords, tool bag and even a blanket in there. the new cover feels flimsier too, although I guess I won't be opening it much anyway.
- The smartphone charging pad does not work with iPhone 12 apparently (dealer is currently looking into this for me)
- The new roof rail systems does not support the old cross bars that I had on the 2019 T5 - so I have to buy new ones
- The T6 engine (w AWD) doesn't really feel any zippier than the T5 with FWD, which is fine, but I was expecting a little more punch
- The Automatic windshield wiper is just as bad as the one in the T5
- The radio station tuning / favorite setting still sucks
- Still no bluetooth CarPlay
- My T5 had the 360° camera, the T6 does not (although I rarely used it)

Ultimately, with the December discount, loyalty, A-plan and Costco savings - I am paying (leasing) for the exact same price as the T5 (which does blow my mind a little)., so I'm happy to have a T6 with AWD and a few other bells and whistles for the same price.

Just a quick comment, bluetooth car play is never going to happen.
WIFI CarPlay is in the works but I doubt we will have anything in commercial cars like us mortals before 2025. I wished it could be sooner, but since the technology is still being worked on I doubt it will be here sooner.
I have the T6 AWD 2018 Inscription, and although everybody complains about being slow, I really like the peppiness, I may have been used to slower SUV's
Sad to hear about the compartment, it is actually very useful.
Roof rails have a better look nowadays, so it's not terrible to get the crossbars
Cheers and enjoy your new Volvo!

A note on wireless Apple CarPlay - some other manufacturers offer this and there are third-party devices that I guess plug into the USB socket and transmit BT and/or Wifi to allow you to connect wirelessly. I didn't really deep-dive into the specifics, but it is a thing.

Yeah stereos that are after market are working now, and had been for at least a couple of years but that does not mean the car makers will adopt it soon enough.
In our XC90's I have not seen an after market that can replace the main console, nor would I want to
Cheers!

I just turned in my 2018 T6 for a 2021 T6 and I too am super disappointed in the spare tire storage change!
Why would they change something that wasn't broken
Also do not like that they took away the chrome trim around the front fog light area, WTF looks like crap without it and I can find an aftermarket version

Smart charger is dumb in my opinion. Let's face it, everyone uses their phone for navigation, you want your phone where you can see it while driving, not flat down in the center console.
plus it takes up valuable space in the cup holder

My 2017 BMW 740 has wireless CarPlay - so really no excuse Volvo!
