Hi guys. I've always been a BMW guy but I've fallen in love with a 2008 XC90 for sale here in my neighborhood. It seems like the perfect family vehicle and we have our first child on the way in a few months...

I am considering buying it but in my due diligence research I have read tons and tons of horror stories about XC90 transmissions crapping out every 40K miles or so.

It seems the biggest problems are from 2003 to 2005 but since I don't know much about Volvos in general can you guys tell me if the trannies on the 2008 are ok?

Does anyone know who makes the tranny on the 2008?

Thanks so much for any advice you can give me on this. I really would like to buy this car and start getting into Volvos more but the whole tranny issue was close to scaring me off until I found this forum.
