Advice on Getting rid of XC90 after Bizarre Accident
My 2004 XC90, 114,000 miles, was parked in my driveway when a driver lost control of his car and crashed into it last week. The damage is on the driver's side of the car in the back. A rear tail light is knocked off and the trunk is bent and torn. It's about $5000 worth of damage. I would like to sell it as-is or for parts. I would love some advice on where to start looking for parts dealers or buyers.
Thanks!

Worst Car ever
Consider yourself lucky this accident happen. Based on the millage you disclose on your message your XC-90 is overdue for a new transmission or new engine. This vehicle was poorly manufactured. Whatever you decide to do, get rid of the XC-90 and don’t buy another. Volvo’s are not the same since the company was sold in 1999. I would recommend you to post an ad on craiglist.org It’s for free and it has work for me every time. I would not recommend you to post your phone number thought. Good luck!

I noticed that you only had 5 posts in this forum and 4 of them was about bashing the XC90.
Im just new here...This is my first post actually.
I just recently acquired a 2004 XC90. For me, its a good vehicle. The "drive" quality is amazing compared to most japanese cars. So far, Im liking it.

if there's insurance (your coverage or other driver's) it will likely be considered a total loss with that amount of damage, the claim will be paid as such, and the wreck will belong to the insurer. that is preferable to your selling it; in that condition you won't be able to sell it for much, several thousand at best. a parts dealer (junkyard) will probably give you a few hundred bucks.

The answer to your question is simple just in the month of December 2012 I spend $2,223.76. During the entire 2012 I have send an approximate of $8,000.00 at 2 different Volvo Dealerships. Like you I love this SUV, its beutiful. I have been a Mercedes and Volov fan since my early teens. I take care of my XC-90 T6 AWD better than myself, but this Volvo was poorly engineer. If you don't believe me ask the thousands of individuals that have join the Lynn Henderson, etc. Vs. Volvo Cars of North America Class Action lawsuit in the District Court of New Jersey. Civil Action No. 2:09-cv-04146-CCC-JAD. It's no coincidence so many people have problems with this vehicle.

you are talking about one of several completely different drivetrains available with the vehicle. you apparently have the turbo engine which has been problematic. all cars have a problematic engine once in awhile. if you think Mercedes (or any other make) is different they aren't (for example some 07 c classes have 6 cyl. engines whose timing chain teeth can wear off, a very expensive repair). you could've bought an extended warranty for $2k at some point and saved yourself a boatload.

I know this is an old incident but now I feel the quality of volvos have increased dramatically after the change of ownership. My cousin who works with a DUI attorney Los Angeles now rides one and is all praises for his SUV.

I understand there is no activity going on this thread but this is something which recently one of my friends faced. He works for a DUI attorney Los Angeles and had to take couple of days off to get the problems fixed and it wasn’t even covered with extended warranty plan.
