Hi all. Hoping for some advice. Buying out my 2017 XC90 lease. T6 R design with 22 275 35 tyres I have summer and winter wheels and tyres. Trying to source a M+S rated all season tyre of that size. Fed up swapping summer to winter and back. PS my 20 275 45 Khumos are superb in snow. Cheer. Paul

I'd start by using a web site like tirerack.com which is full of reviews and survey details. 275s are really wide (by comparison, my wife's Highlander has 235s)! Generally speaking, tires use their side lugs to dig into snow and have open channels so you can visually check out the design. Winter tires typically have a softer compound to remain compliant in the cold, which is huge advantage on ice but will wear faster than A/S on warm dry roads. Some brands like Nokian provide a winter ready tread design using all season rubber compounts which I think is what you are looking for. The remaining problem you will have is finding tire models in your size. I'd think you'd have more choices with the 20s than the 22s but again a site like tirerack or discounttiredirect will allow you to check that out and consider whether you want to downsize (ie go to a narrower/taller tire). Old school wisdom is narrow tires do better in snow as they dig in vs sit on top - so that may be part of your decision process.
