Default Anti-Skid Message

The last several weeks I was getting in antiskid message saying it needed to be turned on, but I never knew that it was turned off to begin with. Within the last week the message had appeared and then my car wouldn’t get out of park. Eventually it does but I don’t know what the problem actually is.

For the antiskid message the first step would be to scan the car with a compatible scanner, then develop a reasonable diagnostic path to follow. There are many possibilities that could cause that message - so the guess, spend, replace and try again method can get very expensive.

It comes on and goes off. Sometimes the car can’t get out of park and sometimes it can.

Several things have to happen for the shifter to be able to move. And none of those will be picked up on a scan. A cable from the steering column lock has to move (when the key is turned) , a solenoid in the shifter has to move (when the bake pedal is pressed) and you squeeze the button on the front of the shifter. If the shift **** gets pulled slightly up on some cars - the shifter won't move out of park.
