Default Aux port whining noise

I notice that if I switch the radio over to Aux input that with nothing plugged in I get a whine through the speakers that matches the engine RPM. Seems like a grounding issue of some sort. If I then plug in a cable with no device or a device that is not yet on the whine gets much louder. Finally if I turn on the device (ipod or whatever) the whine dissappears. This is bothersome because if I am driving and pause the ipod it will eventually power down and there will be screaming coming from the speakers.

They told me that it was charactaristic of Aux inputs, but my Toyota tundra didnt do it, and the loaner S80 I was driving didnt do it, so I think its a BS response from the dealership.

Anyone have similar experience and if so how did it get resolved. Anyone know of an associated TSB?

Thanks for the TSB #. I called the dealer with it. He says its for 2007 and the Vin range doesnt match my truck, but he will call Volvo to see if they will approve since the symptoms are the same.

Can someone explain the process for repairs at a dealership? Does everything have to be on a TSB to get repaired? If there is an obvious issue like the whining noise dont they just start replacing parts until its fixed? In order for a TSB to get written in the first place someone has to find the problem.

I just contacted Volvo on an 2009, 2010 s40 model and it cured the problem, your concern sounds a little different, so maybe not. I will see if i can email it.
