Default Bone-jarring ride - XC90 3.2

I've just brought home my 'new' 2010 XC90 3.2 AWD (185k kms). While I did notice a harsh ride during the test drive, the bone-jarring ride really became apparent when driving on local not-so-perfect roads where my '92 Mercedes-Benz W124 230E is smooth. This is not the ride quality I would expect from a Volvo SUV with large 235/65 x 17 tyres (pumped to 2.2 bar). I even felt seasick after doing our regular 50km coastal trip. Am I looking at a straightforward front and rear shock absorber replacement? If so, then I'm planning to fit Sachs shocks, they have served me well on the MB.
