So, I have an '09 XC 90 AWD. It is a US Spec car that I purchased using the Diplomatic/Military discount sales. About a year ago, I was driving it relatively slowly, looking at real estate were I'm located now, in Oman. After several hours, a message lit up on the dash stating that my stability control needed to be serviced. I drove home and called the local Volvo dealer, and scheduled an appointment. To my ease, the message went out by itself and it has never come up again.

After this "episode" the car started making a dreadful noise when brakling, like a real hard highpitch echhhhhhh.. everytime I use the car. I'm a mechanic with over 15 years of exterience working with cars. I know that my car is really heavy, and the braking system take a toll.....

Anyways, I took it to the dealership and the "cleaned" the brakes and it stoped for about 3 days, now is the same. Any suggestions? Do I need new brake pads? Anyboday has an ides what kind of OEM pads these car used? Ceramic? Semi-metallic?

Just as an update, since nobody seems to have my same problem.

I took my car to the local dealership and they contacted Volvo (some kind of technical reporting system) and Volvo came out saying that my car needs some kinds of bushings installed on the front calipers.

I'll write up an update when I get the bushings installed anf if the probelm was fixed becuse of it.
