Can 18" rims work for 2019 XC90?
Hello!
I'm wanting to get winter tires for my 2019 Volvo XC90 T6 Momentum and I found some used rims with winter tires in good new condition but they are off of a Volvo XC40 so they are 235/55 R18. My current rims are 19" as XC90s no longer come with 18" at all, but I'm wondering if these could still work.. It seems like the bolt pattern is the same so that should be fine, but I've read that the tire proportion size might be different and I cannot find that information. Any insights as to whether these will work for winter tires would be greatly appreciated! (It's okay if the speedometer is a bit off, etc. as long as they'll actually work fine).
Thank you!

there's three main things to consider when going with replacement rims - wheel-size.com is a good resource to check up on, but to recap:
1) bolt pattern - Almost all volvos are 5x108 so not an issue.
2) center bore - Volvo rims are "hub centric" meaning the hole centers the rim on the hub, not the lug bolts. Your XC90 is 63.4mm, same for the XC40
3) Offset - Offset varies by rim width and application. A 2019 XC90 comes with a 8Jx18 ET42.5 rim, a 2018 XC40 comes with a 7.5Jx18 ET50.5 rim.
So the XC40 rims are half an inch narrower, and about 1/4 inch inboard so you'd have about an extra half inch between the fenders and the rim. You can run 235/60x18s for your XC90 on the 7.5 inch rim but an 8 is a better fit.
