can i convert display to metric?
hi.. old volvo driver, new to forum...really great info here.
i'm getting an 07 xc90 which is from USA.
it has been imported to canada.
is there a way (without getting absolutely gouged by the dealer) of changing the display on the computer for odometer / fuel economy / temp... FROM imperial measurement to metric?
on my wife's yukon it was simply a user-switch-able setting.
help is greatly appreciated

convert from impriaal to metric
Conversion can be done from imperiaal to metric.
I imported a XC90 V8 2005 from the USA to the netherlands.
ONLY the volvo dealer was able to convert the whole dash into metric.
He changed the miles to km, degress F to C, galons to liters and the language of the trip computer was set to dutch.
The only thing he could not change was the totaal miles reading on the speedometer, his to avoid tampering with the totaal milage.
Costs 103 euro for a Dutch software that needed to be loaded into the
car using the CAN. bus.
Also he converted the radio from 200 Khz steps on the FM band to 100 Khz steps ( 100 steps is the european standard) cots 23 euro.

Metric Odometer
Hi all,
I've just bought a '97 V70 T5. Imported from S Africa and registered in UK 2001. It appears that the speedo is in Mph but the Odometer/Computer is in Km! How is this possible and can it be fixed as easily as the posts above suggest. Can anyone suggest a man for the job?

I confirm what user "christiaan" said: the dealer can load a new "car configurator" to adjust a bunch of things, including the radio, for a specific area/language.
I got it done in Switzerland (imported MY07 XC90 3.2 from the US) and paid about $230, labor included (which here is extremely expensive).
I did not have the problem christiaan reported with the odometer: mine was converted from miles to km.
On a similar note, replacing the entire instrument cluster to have a speedometer only in km/h rather than dual scale (mph and km/h) would cost about $1000. And replacing the AC panel inside the cabin to have the scale in Celsius would also cost a lot (can't remember the number, though) as it's not just a faceplate but it's sold as a control unit with all buttons/dials.
Another thing I looked into was the HomeLink garage opener, which in Europe works on a different frequency range: I even spoke with HomeLink and they confirmed it cannot be reconfigured but must be replaced (the whole things is contained in the driver-side sun shade, there are no external modules). Cost is about $400, including labor (I believe the part itself is about $300).
