Catalytic converter has a hole in it and is leaking- emissions warranty?
I really am desperate for some advice here. For years I have been told I needed a new catalytic converter from the Volvo dealer, but the price they quoted me was$3000 so I have always declined. I found out recently that the catalytic converter is covered under emisions warranty (8 years or 80k miles whichever comes first) and when they first told me i needed a new one, I was in this range, 7 years 67k miles, but they didnt tell me this.. I spoke w the dealer this week and showed him proof of the receipts and diagnosis from back then and feel they should fix this for free since I was within emissions warranty back then. they looked everything over and told me they see they recomended a new catalytic converter but bc it was described a "a hole and a leak", thats damage which I caused and thats not covered. they also said they didnt note "check engine" light wasnt on, so its not an emissions problem.. Is this BS or is this the truth? if it has a hole and leaking is not covered under the emissions warranty? I am so frustrated with this whole thing, just looking for impartial honest advice
thank you in advance!
