The CD player in my 04 XC90 quit working. It seems that it's in pause mode, as if the volume has been tuned down to where it goes into a pause mode. If I try to turn up the volume the display shows the volume scale, but as I try to turn up the volume nothing happens. The radio works fine. Does anyone have any suggestions?

 

XC90 2004. It is the 3rd time in 5 years that my CD player is broken. The 2 first times I had it replace (1 under warranty and the other to my own expense). This time I just purchased a FM transmitter with a 2GB card and I will not replace the CD player again. The first time I lost all of my 6 discs. I believe that their CD players are very bad quality, or there is something else but Volvo seems unwilling to find the root cause.
