Default First Volvo!

Hi everyone!

As the title says, I just bought my very first Volvo! I was hoping to know if there is anything that I need to be prepared for that might break or go out in the future. It's a 2009 XC90 3.2L with 160K miles on it. Coming from a 4cyl Subaru Outback to this has been night and day, I can actually merge on the highway now without feeling like I'm going to break my car. I know it's a lot of miles, but I only drive less than 5K miles a year because I am in college right now. I bought it from a family friend who has only owned Volvos and has kept it up to date on maintenance, and has kept the engine in very good shape. I just want to know if I need to be worried about anything in particular right now. It did come with a warning light due to there being a problem with the TPMS system, is that hard to fix? If it's expensive, is it ok if I just don't fix it for now? Also, I did notice the other day while driving that the anti-skid warning came on for a minute, but it went off pretty quickly. Should I be worried about this too? It came on after I had parked in the lot of a store.

I'm also excited to make some changes and fix some other problems that I've found with it as well. So far, I'm planning to replace the metal rod in the trunk latch as the latch gets stuck every once in a while, and it seems to be a common problem with an easy enough fix. I'm also looking to install an android headunit with CarPlay that links into the aux input on the radio, as to avoid messing with the body control module and to keep the factory amplifier. If anyone else has experience working with one of these please let me know your thoughts on the headunits and how they work.

Any help or tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

re the audio system - Volvos went to a fiber based system in the mid 2000s so you may need to look for adaptors to integrate with other systems like the steering wheel controls. Crutchfield.com is a good place to start to see what they list as compatible head units and fiber optic adaptors. After that I'd check out vendors like Grom and do the usual eBay/Amazon searches.

I've used Crutchfield before and it was one of the first places I went to when searching for options. Unfortunately they don't appear to have any options available for the XC90. I will look into Grom and eBay though. Thanks for the help!
