Front Brake Replacement Parts
Hello Everyone,
This is my first Volvo, and first time replacing the brakes. I found out that I needed new brakes when I went to go and get a set of new tires. Whoever replaced the pads before I bought the car did not resurface the rotors. So needless to say there is a nice lip on both sides on the outer edge of the rotor.
I ordered a brake kit from Auto Parts Warehouse and I ended up picking these brakes here.
After putting the front of the car up on jack stands and pulling off both front tires I removed the caliper and the rotors. Everything seemed normal, I put on the new rotor and went to replace the pads. I have a dual piston calipers, and from what I have read around the interweb those match with the 336 mm rotors.
The original rotors on the car have a part number of 30793683 on the side of the rotor that I believe belongs to the 316 mm rotors. So now I'm trying to figure out what I need to buy to replace the brakes. I called a local volvo dealership and they said that mine is suppose to have the 316 mm brakes with a single piston caliper, but that's not what is present.
Any advice would be great if you guys could point me in the right direction.

So quick update on what I think is going on, please correct me if I am wrong. So for my year XC90 there are three options. The 316 mm, 336 mm, and the 328 mm rotor. The rotor that is on there now which is a Volvo part with the part number of 30793683 is not the correct rotor for that year XC90.
Searching on the internet I found these part numbers.
30736406 is 316 mm disc, for front
30657301 is 336 mm disc for front until Chassis -512675
31262489 is 328 mm disc for front after Chassis 512675-
The last six numbers of my VIN are 566159 which would put me using the 328 mm rotor, and pads to match. Those pads that match that rotor also use a two piston caliper. I hope I'm right on this and I hope this helps someone else out. I'm about to drop another few hundred dollars on front pads and rotors. Just hoping that returning the first set goes nice and smooth.

Rule of thumb when dealing with brake with different options.
You never know the P.O. modified the calipers etc.
So before ordering parts, jack up the front and remove the wheel, get a tape measuring device and measure the rotor diameter.
If you spend 10 minutes doing this step, you will save hours of headache (ordering wrong parts and return them etc.).
PS: Then write down what you have so the next time you can simply order the parts w/o removing the wheel to check first.
