New to Forums, but hope ta get "help" from all on-board,
XC-90 owner,, 2004 , bought used 1 year ago, and so far OK.

But will be ask'n help on my New HID lights ,just installed by a "shop",
and the Can-Bus ballasts keep burnin'out, "shop" tells me ta keep com'n back
and "in warranty replacements , so far 10 total in 2 months, but I'm sure
this "will stop" soon, - any one with ideas ?

Not sure what your problem might be but I'm sure there is one there and there is something wrong with any shop willing to warranty their own work that many times.
Are they Volvo, stock HIDs or aftermarket ??

 

Thanks for your reply,,, They use Can-Bus Ballasts, they tell me these are installed on Mercedes and BMW's too. But, on my last visit "replacement of ballasts" , another Tec. decided to put the ground wire to a "side frame type under hood sheet metal" that is "thicker" than the "above radiator" sheet-metal. I believe the "above radiator metal is maybe an"alloy" of some-sort and not really a "good ground, although it did spark .
He drilled thru this thicker metal , and grounded the Ballast's there and its been 4 weeks and "no return for me",, before it was "once a week", all in warranty,they said they get a "credit" so they did'nt seem too worried,,

Moral,, Go to a shop w/ a "knowing Tec." in my case it was the 3rd. one ,
