Default High Beam Headlight Question

I recently noticed that the inner high beam headlight do not work. I have xenon lamps on the low beams. When I switch to high beams the reflector on the xenon lamp rotates, but the inner bulbs do not come on. I have tried switching bulbs which did not help. The shop I use (which is a Volvo, BMW shop) cant tell me for sure if the inner bulbs should even work when the vehicle has xenon lights (he even talked to someone at the Volvo dealership). Does anyone know for sure if the inner high beams should be working?

What year is your car? I have the xenon headlights for low beams. When I hit the high beams the normal high beams (non xenon) come on and the fog lights shut off.

It is a 2005 V8. Low beam reflectors rotate, fogs go off (if they were on), and blue high beam indicator illuminates but the inner lights dont come on.

Did you ever figure this out? I've notice the same thing with my 2005.

The same thing happens to my 2006 XC90. The inner lights go on as daytime running lights (Canada) but go off when the headlights turn on (high or low). The tilting up of the bi-xenon bulb is not sufficient for a good high beam.

I'm in Vancouver too. Interesting, I didn't notice (or look) for what it looks like during the day... but am sure mine is doing the same thing.

I'll let you know if I find any better high beam options - please do the same

did you check the fuse? i think it is on the panel on the side of the dash on driver side (you pull off the plastic cover with your finger).

Default Confusing spec for these bulbs

I'm experiencing a similar problem.
-owner's manual spec's H7 for the high beams (as do Sylvannia catalogues etc.)
-When pulling bulb it is actually a H10...Volvo Service Dept just shrugs
-Fuse has power
-both lights fail to activate regardless of switch/lever position

That is true the inner lights are daytime running lights only (In British Columbia anyway). The Bi-Xenon just tilts up for high beam which is severely inadequate. What can modification is available to substantially increase the high beams?
