Unhappy Intermittent No Crank Issue 2020 xc90 T6

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this!
We purchased a 2020 xc90 last June (2023). Since then we have had intermittent issues from the car when it comes to cranking it. There seems to be no real rhyme or reason from what I can tell. I am not the most car savvy person but understand the basic concepts. Here is what I have gathered:

Sometimes when I get in the car, apply brake, and twist the ignition, the spedometer, lights, media center, everything will turn on as normal, I hear a slight hum under the hood, but no attempt for vehicle to crank. I have found that sometimes this has been fixed by simply stepping outside of the vehicle, locking it, and trying again. Sometimes it will start immediately, no error codes or messages, and drive perfect fine for a month. Then the issue may occur again but this time it may be two days of me trying to crank the car with no success. Then randomly the next day it starts up fine with no issues.

I've searched forums here and there and have seen quite a few possibilities. It is beginning to become frustrating because I really do love this car....when it will start.

Side note: I did test the battery and it seems to be testing normally. At one point in desperation I even tried jumping the car off to see if that would work, and nothing. I do not want to go and drop the car off at a dealership for an extended period if it something I could troubleshoot. Thank you all again for your time!

I am having the same issue with my 2020 XC90. The car doesn’t start about once a month since I bought it last August. Battery has been replaced, no codes have shown up when we take it to the dealership. I’m just dealing with it at this point. Did you find any solutions?

Yes we did figure out what it was. The positive cable that led from battery to starter had a lot of corrosion on it. The shop we took it to removed the cable and sandblasted it, cleaned all connections. It has worked fine ever since. He explained it to me as the corrosion was causing variable voltages which prevented the car from starting unless conditions were perfect at the moment I tried to start. Said it gets worse in the summer.

Also, I’d check the starter relay and all relevant fuses. Plus, inspect ground connections from the battery to the chassis and the engine.
And check the solenoid, which engages the starter motor.

Just a random 2 cents.
