Looking for purchase advice
We had a 2005 V70 2.5t that was totaled. We had about 80k trouble free miles, and would still be driving it now. We are thinking we want something a little bigger. Any years/models to stay away from. Any trouble areas to watch out for? We want to spend 10-12k
2003-2006 awd 2.5L will fit your price range
2003-2005 AWD T6 will also fit your price range and might also be cheaper, beware this has the dreaded GM-465 transmission that is prone to failure. Yes i have one of these, yes i knew it before i bought it. Mine on the other hand did just get a New Volvo rebuilt trnasmission installed 2 months before i purchased it. Unless you know for a fact that the transmission has been rebuilt recently, please dont buy one unless you budget for a new transmission.
example 2003 T6 for sale @ $8000 + $5000 cost of new transmission = $13000
sad to say these T6's tranny's will eventually die, its not how many miles just when. Many T6 owners will agree. do a google search "xc90 transmission problems" 99% will be T6 owners, the other 1% will be a few V8's and a few 2.5L cars.
Good luck, btw- i love my lemon, it is bittersweet
