Hey guys. I'm Ryan and I'm new here and am having a problem with my 04 xc90. It's the T6 with about 116k miles.

When I accelerate from a stop it starts making a tapping noise. It is worst from about 10 to 25 miles an hour. At those speeds it is very loud. After that the noise quiets some and is tapping much faster.

It is coming from the front end or possibly close to the transmission. And it does not change at all turning vs moving in a straight line.

The noise quits if I let completely off of the accelerator. It does not happen if the motor is revved in neutral.

Any ideas what may be causing this? I'm capable of doing the work myself but not really sure where to start looking for the problem.
