Parking brake issues/recommendations

Hi guys and girls,
I have a late 2009 ‘59 XC90 active (base model) with a reoccurring problem with the parking brake. I’ve been to my local generic garage multiple times for fixes and most recently, a replacement cable Which has lasted about 6-7 months before the squeaking has returned. I’m getting fed up with this issue now, can anyone suggest a more permanent fix or retrofit replacement solution???

is the squeaking the problem? If so, can you tell where its coming from (ie near the handle, under the car, near the rear wheels?) does it change pitch with road speed, only on bumps, sound different at low speeds going forward vs backing up? Have you looked under the car to see the cable layout and are there any signs of rubbing?

Hi mt6127, thanks for coming back to me. The squeaking is coming from the rear near side wheel. The squeak is noticeable at low speed and doesn’t change if the brakes are applied. It gets louder if I use the parking brake and release it, as though it is sticking on in some way. I can’t see anything from under the vehicle, I’ve looked at the rear wheel and nothing is obvious to me. I hope that helps
