Default Parking break XC90 2004

Just took our 2004 XC90 to inspection, they said the E break is too loose/ not enough. After watching several videos I tried to find the adjuster behind the panel under the shift stick. There is nothing there just a solid cable. Anyone got any clue how to adjust it?

Early cars (maybe only a 2003) have a "self adjusting mechanism and there are cryptic instructions in VIDA on how to reset it. Here's directions with an adjuster. Shown instructions say something about modifying 2003s, converting to manual adjustment. If it's loose due to worn shoes you could replace the shoes rather than modifying the cable mechanism (if needed)

Yes I have seen that as well, but if you see my picture there is no such adjuster its just a straight cable

OK - Here's the other instructions. Haven't really read through them - but I have replaced the parking brake pedal on an xc90. PITA.
