Default Possible 2011 XC90 owner here

Hi everyone, we are just about to pull the trigger on an '11 XC90, and would like a little feedback before we sign.

Here's our history: My husband and I enjoy road travel a bit, and have started taking my folks (with 16lb Pomeranian) with us on vacations, to local festivals and just fun Sunday drives. We currently own an Impala and a Saturn Vue, but it's time to replace the SUV, preferably with something a little more roomy. We also use the Vue to tow an open utility trailer (mostly for landscaping - 2 yards mulch). The Vue has a tow rating of 3500lbs, and hasn't experienced any fatigue while towing, and braking under load is a notch above good/satisfactory. It is the 240hp V6, FWD model. Contenders for this vehicle replacement have been the Ford Flex, Chevy Traverse/Buick Enclave and the XC90. Mom has owned a S60 for a few years and I just love the "feel" of it, so that's why I've been rooting for a Volvo of our own. Also, god willing, we will add a car seat in the mix in the near future (hence the anticipation of 3rd row seating).

Please tell me the good/bad/ugly about these vehicles. Reliability reports have me somewhat concerned - what's going on??? We are considering the I6 XC90 (purely a financial consideration, otherwise I'd have the V8 in the garage tonight). I am hoping I will not be disappointed with the I6 vs V8, considering our current SUV is a V6, and only 5hp more (that can be made up with exhaust/intake mods, I'm sure).

Not bad motors I guess, just a lot more complicated than the old v-8. They are discontinuing the v-8. Look under the hood at the i-6.

Suggest you find another vehicle! Hope you have not bought, but if so, go back and get an extended warranty!
Have an XC90 from 2004 and it has been nothing but trouble! Tie-Rods, Transmission, Electrical, water leaks, poor brake wear, poor tire wear, etc.

Would never buy or recommend another Volvo again!

Thanks for the feedback, guys. It has been a very difficult decision that just boiled down to who gave the better deal. We finally got our new suv, but it wasn't the XC90 - we now have a 2010 Flex Limited.
I'm sure to keep this site bookmarked since we still somewhat have a Volvo "in the family".
Take care.
