I hope someone can help me with this recent issue. I have a 2005 T6 and lately the rear hatch door is difficult to open. When I pull on the latch it feels like it is contracting, but the door is not opening. The child safety feature is in the "off" position. I even had my son go on the inside and try and open and still no luck. The weird thing is sometimes when you lock and unlock the truck the door will open (not with ease though).

Has anyone had this issue? How did you fix it? Not sure how to pull off the inside panel to see what may be wrong with the mechanism. Any help here?

My XC90 had the same problem. Replacing the latch assembly fixed it for me.

 

I am having a similar issue with my 04 xc90. The door will open with the interior handle but does work with exterior handle. I removed the interior trim to expose the latch and I can see that the exterior control wire seems to be moving properly. Is it possible the the latch will work with one of the control wires but not the other?

 

update: I removed the latch assembly, gave it a shot of WD40, reinstalled it, and it started working...better than before. Its been three months and still good.
