I've owned a V90, XC90, V50, and XC60. I just got burned trying to be a Land Cruiser owner. I am considering coming back to Volvo.



I am considering a 2016 XC90 Momentum. 53k miles.



This is the result of a pre-buy inspection. A broken motor mount and noisy turbo fan are being fixed. I had a scan done, which of these appear to be serious concerns--as opposed to simple fixes?

who did the scan? Is is practical to have a Volvo dealer with VIDA/DICE do an inspection/scan? I'd be most concerned with the TCM errors but I'm wondering if these are due to a system voltage or wiring issue (such as bad connectors/ground points etc), incompatible scanner or a true fault. The report did note that they tried to clear the codes and rescanned but that said, the transmission temp faults would take some driving time to reset if the transmission was truly at fault. Unless you are planning on fixing on yourself, its best to either walk away or get a VIDA scan with an estimate to repair.

 

VIDA scan was done at a local mechanic. He seems to think that since the vehicle has been sitting for 4-5 months that some of these readings are off...due to low voltage and some of the other things you mentioned. He is going to put 25 miles of mixed driving on it to see what the transmission control module spits out. I think he called it a regenration or refactor. Something like that. He didn't seem too concerned. We also looked at the CARFAX and it has a well documented and frequent history of time spent at the Volvo dealership it originated from. He said the report was impressive and it seems as if the previous owner was on top of every little thing.
