Default Side Door Chrome Window Trim

I have a '06 XC90 V8. I have read that these SUVs are notorious for the side door window chrome trim pieces breaking at the clips. I know they are called either "Door belt window molding" or "side door window chrome trim molding" and the cost of these are sky high. All the posts I end up finding are from years and years ago. Has anybody lately come up with cheaper alternatives to replace or fix these?

I have tried tape, super NASA glue and no luck with them staying.

Part numbers 30753850, ""51, ""52, ""53

We do have clips available #31253046 for $2.10 ea, or the moulding #30753850 for $142.03. Unfortunately it usually requires a new moulding because its usually tweeked beyond re-using

I have those clips actually but when I pulled the chrome trim, the clips that are on there are longer and looked like they are riveted and/or glued onto the chrome trim. Was there two different trim pieces?

I just bought an 05' XC90 V8 and all the chrome trim needs to be replaced. It has turned white. I'm guessing its from hard water or acidic rain? Not sure but it needs to be replaced.

Do we have part numbers for all the chrome trim around the windows?

Another thought, has anyone done a brushed aluminum look or carbon fiber with the trim and only replaced the clips?

Sorry if I hijacked your thread but I felt my question matched yours and could help others.

I have the part numbers listed on the top.

I did a carbon fiber vinyl wrap on parts of the other trim on the car but not those specific pieces.

The clips are a great idea but don't work. The original trim tabs are like welded onto the piece and even probably 3 times as long as the clips they try to sell you. Plus even if there was somewhere to secure them onto the trim, they wouldn't clip into anywhere on the car correctly. I even went to a Volvo parts dealer and he agreed with me. He didn't even know why they sold the clips.

Man I need to read more diligently. Quick search and it's roughly $300 per door.... may just try and paint them or something

Just replacing the trim is 1/4 the cars worth.

Here's and example. Prices fluctuate between dealers but gives an idea of cost.

Genuine Volvo Parts Online | Volvo Parts Webstore

Left front
lower - 31255431 - 144.28
upper - 31255435 - 144.28

Left Rear
lower - 31255433 - 144.28
upper - 31255437 - 144.28

Left Quarter
lower - 31255428 - 144.28
upper - 31255427 - 144.28

Right Front
lower - 31255432 - 144.28
upper - 31255436 - 144.28

Right Rear
lower - 31255434 - 144.28
upper - 31255438 - 144.28

Right Quarter
lower - 31255430 - 144.28
upper - 31255429 - 144.28

Also these prices and part numbers are for the R-Design replacements as I plan on updating my package to the R-Design. (Slowly but surely)

Standard trim are roughly $20 cheaper per part.
