Default steering wheel

Can anyone help please, i need to remove the steering wheel airbag to tighten the centre nut on the steering wheel as it's become loose. The screw holes look to be to the rear of the steering wheel on the base but i can't figure out what sized screws they are? any help would be gratefully received.

Problem solved. For anyone interested, i disconnected the negative battery terminal, turned the steering wheel to halfway position from centre, push narrow flatblade screwdriver in hole on base of steering wheel, when you feel it connect with something metalic slightly prize the screwdriver and with the other hand bang the rim of the steering wheel, i did this twice until the airbag released itself. Turn the steering wheel half a turn and repeat the precedure, this fully releases the air bag. centre nut was indeed loose, tightened with 18mm socket and replace airbag by sliding it into it's locating slot and just simply push it back until it clicks into place.job done. took me about 7 minutes from start to finish.

This is the next project I need to tackle. My '04 has had a loose steering wheel for a few months, I have been trying to figure out how to remove the airbag from the wheel.

Don't suppose anyone has any pictures of the procedure

I finally had the time to tackle the "loose nut behind the wheel" problem on Mrs. bigtoms XC90.

The instructions were spot on and everything was buttoned up within about 45 minutes.

Thanks again for the assistance and detailed information!

Thanks tech, after looking around the wheel and poking stuff, I came here, found the instructions to pull off airbag, and did the job in literally 6 minutes, start to finish.
