Strange Noise from AOC Clutch

My 2007 XC90's (https://volvoforums.com/forum/members/hdstro-38626/#) AOC clutch is making a high pitch grinding noise :confused:. Can I just replace it's front end or do I have to replace that entire assembly? The dealer quoted me $5K plus 4.5 hrs labor :eek:.

I'd get the part from a wrecked low mileage vehicle and have an independent shop replace it. if something is grinding i'd suspect it is messed up internally.
