2017 XC90, sunroof would not close all the way. Calibrating by moving switch/holding for 5 sec/ etc did not help. Finally found a post, for a different model, on manually turning the sunroof motor to close the sunroof and sink the motor with the sunroof position. This took about 10 minutes and worked.
A) Make sure the track is clean of debris.
B) Visually look to see that nothing is obviously broken or keeping the sunroof from completely closing.
C) Close the sunroof (mine still had a gap of approximately 1/4 inch from being flush).
D) Remove the lamp panel located on the roof (houses the sunroof switch and lights). To remove, get the tips of your fingers between the roof lining and the edge of the housing and applying force downwards. The panel is clipped into a plastic housing. Make sure you pull down vertically, no laterally.
E) Leave the wiring harness connected.
F) The motor is connected by 3 torque screws (mine were T25) but there is no need to remove the motor from the housing.
G) There is a hole located near the rear of the motor, it has an aluminum component.
H) Insert the correct bit into the hole (mine was a T25) and use small, counter-clockwise turns to close the sunroof. Be careful to make small turns and only turn until the resistance is slight and the roof appears closed. Turning too hard could result in breaking the cable.
I) Test using the switch prior to reattaching the lamp panel to the housing. I suggest test driving to check for operation and wind noise.
