Smile Thinking about buying used...any advice?

Hi,

I've been looking at a couple of XC90's and am thinking about purchasing, just wondering if anyone can offer me any advice. We're looking at an 04 or 05 with just under 100,000 k's (from canada eh!). One we're looking at the 2.5L turbo, the other is a T6.

Any problems that anyone has had, any glowing reviews, any info at all would be greatly appreciated!

thanks in advance.

Rob

I've read quite a bit on the T6 having transmission problems, I'd be very careful buying one. The 2.5 has a good reputation, as far as my research. I just recently bought a 2.5 myself, the dealer we bought from wouldn't even carry the T6 because of the tranny problems.

Our 04 T2.5 had an unfortunate problem with the computer when we bought it, but the dealer was able to get it fixed and the car has been great so far, all things considered.

I'm holding out until I find a good deal on a V8. 2.5L is a little underpowered for what I want (a tow vehicle) and there is no way I would buy the T6. Just read a little and you will see why.

Thanks guys. I had been reading, T6 tranny does sound a little problematic. I actually drove one yesterday with a replaced transmission.

cheers,

I've had my 05' xc90 for about 6 months and absolutely love it. Although I don't have a need for towing and don't think I ever will, the 2.5T is definitely adequate enough in terms of power. I find that its a lot faster than most entry level SUV's with the base engine. With that said, even if I had to moderately tow I would say the 2.5T is just fine. Then again the V8 doesn't waste that much more gas and has more power, so it all depends on what you come across in my opinion.
