Trailer hitch recommendations
2022 xc90. I'm looking at Curt and Draw Tite hitches. The curt is more like a traditional hitch that mounts to the underside of the frame rails. The Drawtite seems to be bolted to the back of the frame. I don't think there are any real major differences between the 2 other than the Curt might be more visible as the cross tube hangs down lower I think. I'm generally interested which people think is stronger attached to the vehicle. It's not towing heavy weight but it could be getting pulled out of a ditch at some point. Thoughts?
Thanks,
NIck

have you considered the factory retractable tow hitch? Costs 2X ($700) but has the benefit of extending the hitch from the cabin... As to the DrawTite vs Curt, I've done one of each - the Curt was on a Highlander that fit into factory bolts, the DrawTite was for a VW CC that i had to drill into a pan. For the XC, I'd research the install process to see what the hitch hooks into. Etrailer always has good documentation - maybe you can stop in at a dealer to see where the factor hitch (class3) hooks up to compare. As to the products, they are both powder coated steel so my main concern is how they mount.
Not sure how you are pricing factory hitch, but it is $3500 installed from our dealer. I'm not interested. It also has a crappier weight rating than the other hitches. I've looked at how the hitches install which is why I'm asking this forum. Curt is drill holes and bolt up from underneath and draw tile is bolt to back bumper bar studs. I think I am leaning towards the curt in any case even though it is more visible.
