Transmission Noise?HELP
Hi all I have an 04 2.5T FWD XC90.
Last week it started making a noise from what seemed like the front left area of the car. I would describe it as a rubbing noise sometimes sounding like knocking. it happens while under way, mostly on deceleration. The noise does change with braking slightly quieter. it also gets quieter when turning. The noise is pretty much gone while accelerating. I thought it might be an axle or a caliper rubbing or a maybe a wheel bearing. So Jacked up the front of the car on Jack stands and put it in gear...no noise everything sounds perfect.
Turn the wheels step on the brakes, rev a little higher, shift through the gears...nothing.
Then i decided to place one wheel on the ground and try again. So with one wheel on the ground I put it In gear and its makes a noise, is a clunking/scraping noise consistent with roughly one revolution of the whee.
My first thought was crap I have a Diff problem in the Trans...but not I'm wondering if maybe it was just traction control trying to do something???
Any thoughts or idea from anyone would be amazing, Thank you!
