as an owner of a XC90 2004, I would suggest it is extremely unreliable. Following issues:
DIM failed - cost $25000
CEM failed - cost $2500
UEM failed - cost TBD
Transmission failed - cost $5k
Gear shift **** failed - cost $250
Sunroof leaks - 6 gallons of water under both floor mats
Sunroof not working - cost TBD
Radio continuously goes out - cost - no music/radio
Motor mounts - broken 2x and replaced - $250 each time
Thermostat failed - replacement cost $750
car only has 119k miles of city driving in the SF Bay Area

Very poor vehicle!

 

Extra zero or two on the cost of that DIM module?

This is a lot of work. But 119k city miles will take their toll on any car.
