I need to ID the hose that's next to the oil cap on the 2.5T engine. I guess it dry-rotted and broke off under the engine cover. It had a pasty yellow liquid inside the hose....anyone have any ideas as to what hose it is and whether or not its easy to replace for an amateur mechanic at best? Thanks.

Looks like your PCV valve cover hose. IPD is a good source. Here's a link to their diagram and PCV parts list (VIN dependent). The yellow crap I can't explain - I usually ask for Jeremy if I have technical questions (install level of difficulty and walkthrough)...good luck!:
