Just put a used motor in it. It will likely be cheaper in the long run and you don't have to worry about throwing some used rods that might be wrong in the engine just to save a few bucks.

Ah I see.

Well there is an engine break, with two different rods based on engine serial number. That is for US models anyway. Your best bet would be to call the dealer and have the VIN handy. They can give you a part number and you can cross reference that.

The B5254T2 engine 2.5T is used in many models (S60, S80, XC90 etc.).
If you can cross the border, San Diego should have some used engine, about $500.

That does not guarantee the rods are all the same though. The parts catalog I have access to from home indicates two different rods, based on engine number. That is also a US catalog and I don't know if the engine numbers span multiple years or not.

What other parts are you going to need ?
What caused this connecting rod failure ?
Is the cost going to exceed the price of a used engine ?
Have you done this type of work before ?
These are not smarta$$ questions , I am just wanting you to consider what you are getting into instead of getting a used engine .
