Wind noise
I have noticed fairly loud wind noise coming from the front windshield on my 2005 XC 90 when the vehicle reaches 45 - 50 mph and higher. I've checked windshieldwipers, grills and other parts for any looseness. Has anyone else had this problem? Sometimes it becomes a buzzing sound. I was going to take it in to the dealer, but I wanted to check with the forum first to see if there is an easy fix(besides keeping the speed below 45mph).
Thanks.
Thanks.
Ditto, Weve had a few here also! Put tape around the windshield seal and see if it stops!. The take one piece of it off at a time just to see were its actually comming from!
Take it to the dealer, they should be able to put it out and reseal under warranty!

Thanks for your response. Just got back from a cross country trip (California to Wash, D.C.). Noise was particularly annoying when running into a head wind. When I got back, I pulled the cover off the cabin filter and checked it. The filter had been jammed into its mounting slot and was deformed. Since this is a new vehicle, it was probably done at the factory. I replaced the filter carefully sliding the new one into the mounting slot. This requires removing the floor mat to gain clearance and to avoid bending or tearing the filter. Bottom line: it solved the noise problem. No more wind noise or buzzing regardless of the speed I'm traveling, or head winds.
Thanks for the responses.

Yeah! Apparently the deformed filter left a slight air leak between the edge of the filter and the mounting bracket. Weird, I know, but now no more noise. Just another solution to add to the troubleshooters book.
Well, it's back! Was on one of my cross country trips last week, when the wind noise came back. Boy was I upset! But that evening while I was at a motel, I went online and found this site: http://www.alldata.com/tsb/Volvo/113...-11/index.html.
Seems that this has been a problem with xc90's from 2003 to 2006. Anyway, I took some electricians tape and covered the front edge of the roof rack mount, and voila! problem solved temporarily.
Contacted the dealer upon my return, and the service advisor said "oh yeah, we've had this before, bring it in".
FYI.
