My 2005 XC90 has AC troubles. After driving for about 10 minutes on a hot day AC on high, my car blows warm/humid air for a few minutes and then returns to cold air. It does not always do it, so I have not been able to reproduce at dealer. I have taken it to two dealers but no luck so far. Anyone heard of this or am I crazy?

I had problems w/ air in the winter, and a software update fixed the problem -took 2 trips to the same dealer.. Did any of the dealers tried to erase and re-load the software or download a software upgrade? If not, ask them to try.
Also, you may try to get a digital thermometer and just measure the temp. inside the car after driving for a while w/ AC On. Put both sides on the same temp. setting, and see what temp. you will get. If temp. you get is more the 5 degrees different from the temp. set on the dials, you can prove to the dealer that AC system does not work properly.
Gooood luck!!

Does the A/C seem to turn off when your accelerating hard or towing something? If so, this may be normal. When you "floor" the car or try to accelerate quickly, the engine will disengage the A/C compressor momentarily, until you’re no longer requiring so much power from it. The car does this to provide maximum power (the a/c takes power from the engine) when you need it most.
The other post about the software flash also seems like a good idea.
Best of Luck!

Just got my car back. I told them to keep it a few days so they could see the problem. They contacted Volvo who recommended they change the freon, said it seemed to be "freezing up". So far so good except now the AC is making a "hissing" sound every few minutes. Is this common after a freon change (will it go away) or shoud I take it back again? Thank you for your input!!!

Just an update on my AC. So far we have: recalibrated, loaded new software, new freon, new compressor.
The freon trick worked for two days and now it is blowing warm air again. The compressor was the latest attempt, but no luck. They still have the car, but don't know where to go from here. I will keep you posted.

I am soo happy to let you guys knows they were finally able to fix my car. The last attempt was to replaced the AC DRYER. I have no idea what this is, but it seems to have solved the problem. Thank you all for your help. I took your advice to the dealer each time I returned the car for service. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!!
