Question XC90 engine noise smoke, is it dead? w/video clip

Check out the video for my XC90 which I think has a blown engine. it the end for this car????

The oil measures all the way filled with brown tint- although it most likely should have had low oil since it leaks. I think the oil has a slight different odor- not really sure. The oil is pretty brown even though the oil is only a few weeks old.

Thanks for your help!

2005 XC90 2.5L T5 139k miles
Doing EXACT same thing, same smoke (actually, more. Couldn't see vehicle behind me when I tried to drive it), same loud chatter. Checked oil. Bone DRY! Was okay about 1K miles ago. Scheduled for change in 700mi. Started with high pitched whine only on acceleration. Went away immediately when I lifted off gas. Parked it to take yo tranny guy next day. Had emergency, missed appt, driving home started smoking, chattering. Then REALLY smoking and chattering, just like this video (smoking was worse. Like Batman sending a smoke screen!) Added nearly four quarts (I had 3/4 bottle, gas station/convenience store had 3 bottles) and showed about 1/2 way between min and max.

So, yeah, NO OIL! And no kind of warning. All icons lit up at start, then disappeared, like usual. Message system said "Time for regular maintenance" (or something to that effect) I get that message EVERY TIME I start the car. They try resetting it after every service, to no avail. If I lock the car, when I later start it I get an "alarm system activated" kinda message. I KNOW the alarm didn't sound. So these two days, Thursday with the whine and Friday with the smoke and noise, there was absolutely no warning anythimg was wrong. No icon lit up, no message on the message acreen. No little light like you get when low on fuel. One guy said it could be the oil sensor. II have a sick, sinking feeling it's going to be really bad news. It's at the mechanic's now. I REALLY love this car. It was my sister-in-law's but I was the first one to drive it, driving it from the dealer back to the neighborhood to hide it, so my brother could sneak it home Christmas morning. I got the car about 4 yrs ago, have put 33k mi on it with no problem except new brakes all around.

So. I REALLY love it. If the engine is dead, what do you recommend, try and trade it in, put in new engine, put in rebuilt engine, junk it?
