A review on the www.edmunds.com website showed "disadvantageous engine and transmission combination." Their road test results indicates that the T6 with the 4-speed transmission felt sluggish and "had a harder time keeping up with driver demands while piloting the car around hilly, curvy roads."</P>

I am seriously considering getting the T6 and just waiting for the right time when I don't have to pay MSRP for it.</P>

To those that are already driving their T6, do you have any feedback regarding the review above from Edmunds?</P>

Thanks.</P>

Friends of mine have an XC 90 AWD with the base 5cyl. light pressure turbo (209 hp?) and of course the ubiquitous 4 speed auto trans. I personally thought it was a decent car to drive with fairly crisp shifting for a slush-pump, and decent pick-up for a large vehicle with a 2.5 liter engine....I'm used to an '89 240 DL though, so I hardly have the need for crushing power....</P>

The T6 ONLY comes with the 4 speed auto. The 2.5 ONLYcomes with the 5 speed auto. The 5 speed is a much better box and there is no room for it to fitin the T6. </P>

Sorry T6'ers. </P>

Just get the 2.5T AWD with all options. It's cheaper and gets better gas mileage. Either that or a loaded T6. They are really nice.

Default RE: XC90 Engine & Transmission

Just bought a used 2004 XC90 2.5T loaded - it runs like a charm. The 2.5L engine with the 5 speed automatic transmission is alot more powerful than what i had expected. It has alot of pep of the line and shifts very smoothly. I had test drove the 6 cylinder which was alittle more powerful but the 4 speed transmission didn t feel as good / smooth as the 5 speed. I found this beauty with only 40,000 km and had been on the road for a year and ahalf on a lease. I saved about $25,000 Cdn from buying it new, which made this deal hard to pass up. I can t believe how smooth and solid the ride is. There was a snow storm the day i picked it up, but it felt so safe and secure driving through the 6" of snow that had fallen - it was really awsome to drive.

Sat for just a couple of days. I know it has no spark because I have checked for spark - none from coil or from plugs. It ran great when I had it out a few days earlier.

I recently test drove a 2005 2.5t, it has the 5 speed auto, I was very impressed with the power of the 2.5t in such a heavy vehicle, but I ended up buying the 4.4 V8, would have bought the 2.5 but the guy wouldnt deal, got the V8 cheaper than I could have bought the 2.5t of the same year, (2005).
