XC90 First Gen Haynes Repair Manual in English?
Purchased a first generation Volvo XC90 with a gasoline engine, and have not been able to find the Haynes Repair manual in English. There is a "Swedish" version, and there is also a Diesel version in English. But I have not been able to find an English version for the XC90 Gasoline engine. The first generation is up to year 2014. Please help. As had I known that there was no repair manual for this Volvo then I might have thought harder before purchasing it! This is the first car that I was not able to find a Haynes manual for!
As far as I know--they don't exist. That is because of two things: 1. Market--apparently, there isn't enough of a market for Haynes/Chilton to put out an English manual. (If they can publish it in Swedish, they should be able to publish it in English, unless there is a strong-enough *right to repair* law in Sweden--that mandates allowing the publication) 2. Like other auto manufacturers, they keep a tight grip on the repair intel-customers won't buy the cow-when the manufacturer can screw customers for free...
I have seen an E-Manual, but I am a bit dubious as to how accurate/legit it is. If someone else can give recommendations on a good/legit one-that would be useful...

It is disappointing. Guess I can look at the pictures of the Swedish version and use Google translate if I can figure out how to change the keyboard version to Swedish. Assuming that I decide to buy the Swedish version that is. Myself, I think that it should be easy for Haynes/Chilton to translate it to English and publish it, maybe as an ebook if they don't want to make a hard copy book. There are enough XC90 owners in the USA in my opinion to justify making it for their customers in the American market.

the E-manual that i bought is the factory manual consisting of approx 35,000 pages, but without an index. You are supposed to associate it with a PDF viewer like adobe acrobat which is no longer available, which has an index function.if you associate it with a PDF viewer with no index, you will be able to see it but it won't be particularly useful. Also there is no table of contents to give the page number for possibly appropriate sections. if you can find the Swedish language version and use google to translate that might be easier. One assumes this was Ford's contribution to owning Volvo.
eBay is your best choice for old manuals. With that said, almost everything you'd need to do can be found online these days on Youtube, forums and blogs. You may want to consider shopping for the VIDA 14D software CD - copies can be found on eBay (theftware?) and covers up to 2014 year cars. You may even opt for the DICE adaptor for a couple hundred more which will allow you to scan and program the car. Useful for things like setting the transmission level at the correct "warm" temperature etc.
